Overview
IFR certifications keep your aircraft legally IFR-current, dispatch-reliable, and safe in the IFR system. At Equinoxx we perform them with the same ownership mindset we’d use on our own aircraft — quick turnaround, detailed documentation, and clear explanations of any discrepancies.
Pitot-Static, Altimeter & Altitude Encoder Certification
This is the cornerstone IFR certification. Every 24 calendar months (and after any static system work), we test the entire static system for leaks, calibrate all altimeters, and verify the altitude encoder. Accurate altitude reporting is non-negotiable for ATC separation and safe instrument approaches.
Transponder & ADS-B Certification
Required every 24 calendar months for any transponder-equipped aircraft. We perform full ramp tests covering Mode A, C, S, and ADS-B Out performance. In today’s environment, a properly certified ADS-B system is essential for flying in controlled airspace and avoiding violations.
VOR Receiver Check
If you’re still using VOR for IFR navigation, it must be checked within the preceding 30 days. We verify accuracy to ±4° on the ground or ±6° airborne. Even with modern GPS, many operators keep VOR as a reliable backup.
Aircraft IFR Equipment & Avionics Conformity
This covers the overall IFR certification of the aircraft — ensuring required instruments (attitude indicator, heading indicator, turn coordinator, etc.), comm/nav radios, and avionics (especially Garmin installations) meet FAA standards. We handle Garmin G1000, G5000, and legacy system upgrades plus the required logbook entries and FAA Form 337 documentation when needed.
